Yes, it's great to play, but I'd find a four year old to play with! Wow, if you've never played candyland have you been living in that gingerbread house?
OMG, that was my little sisters absolutely most favorite game in the world when she was little. I would buy it just for the graphics, it actually reminds me of your blog header lol. If it wasn't fun to play, you could use the board to make a super cool bulletin board or something (a clock maybe?)
OMG, I used to play this all the time. I grew up in Massachusetts... when we went to school and it was snowing, they'd keep us in for recess. They had a bunch of board games and this was one of them. Not for adults... but for kiddies, way cool!
I loved this game as a kid and my son loves it now! However, I have to admit it's kind of torturous for an adult to play. The pictures are adorable, though!
I bought it for my oldest because I played it as a girl. It is still the same game as you remember from childhood just not as fun when you are an adult.
I have the original version of this game, and it's different from the one they make now. The old one is way more colorful! But I love this game. Hi-Ho Cherri-o is good too!
It was great fun when I was four years old. I am ten years older when my sister, and when she wanted to play it incessantly when I was fifteen or sixteen, I thought it was sheer torture!
I think it is because the game really has no strategizing - you just get really annoyed when you can't move forward.
It can be fun - a term used loosely - for adults and teens if you are playing it with the right people (they have to be the type of people you can easily laugh with and just are all about stupid humor or nostalgia, and it has to be late at night or you have to be overtired or a bit tipsy lol).
I hate to tell you, it's a lot more fun if you are five-years-old. But, you should probably experience it at least once...
ReplyDeleteBTW - did the owner of that house really just post on your entry? That's crazy! And awesome.
i don't know, it seems like it but im not sure!

The characters from the 80's are much cuter than they are now. I loved that game when I was little, I even have a Candyland ringer shirt.
ReplyDeleteWow, that doesn't look much like the one I played with 50 years go.
